Tuesday off the coast of Nova Scotia
Greetings,
The past couple of days have been filled with rock and rolling waters. I now know what it means to have sea legs. This is a first for me. With all the other trips I have been on, I never experienced a rolling ship like this. One must be aware that it is January and I am crossing the North Atlantic. Given the time of year and coarse taken, it is not bad at all. Although I would like to walk the corridor and not bounce off each wall. Other than that there is nothing to complain about.
I just had fascinating lunch. Te food was good and my dining companions were even more fascinating. I met Lord Bingham, who with a straight face said I could call him Nick. He introduced himself to two other gusts in the same fashion, from the UJK who greeted him with laughter, which offended him. From there it was uphill. The other table guest was moving to Pittsburgh from the UK to join her American husband who teaches English at Pittsburgh University. The final guest was a widow from Spain who was on her way to South Beach, Florida. Unusual group to slay the least, but not from what I have met thus far. Conversation ran from shops in NHC to the "Lord's" home in which the family have lived for over 800 years, to examine his coat of arms, to the Pittsburgh woman's children, to the couple doing the entire world cruise - by the way they are only in their early fifties. Can't wait to see what tomorrow's breakfast and lunch bring.
My dinner gang are the Mayor and his wife and a recently married couple. She is from the UK; he is from the Sates with two young adult daughters. They all plan are settling down in Texas. The couple met in the middle east where they were working for different firms. If I tried to write about all this, one would never believe it. Life is full such unusual stories. It is amazing how so many wind up on a ship heading for NYC and beyond.
Stay tuned I am sure there is more around the corner. By the way the ship is magnificent. I am enjoying more of it each day. Take care.
Bill
